As I said before, delivery leads any woman to a complicated situation where there are anxiety and worry as well as joy.
Foreign women who will deliver in Japan are in a more difficult situation.

An Italian woman said before,
“I have read many books on delivery written in Italian to learn about delivery in my own way.
However, it’s a burden on me to learn Japanese and about information in Japan as well as delivery･･,”
Most women start to learn about delivery and child care after they have realized that they are pregnant.
That’s because pregnant women need previous knowledge preparatory for change in the body and change in mood coming to them and for new experience.
Foreign women need knowledge about language, culture and habits, and the systems of hospitals and health insurance too.
However, the situation is that though they have more difficulties than Japanese women, they are supported less than Japanese women.

There are a difference between expressions described in books on child care written in Japanese and those actually used by hospital workers.
For instance, though breast milk is described as bonyu in books on child care, the hospital workers often say to pregnant women, “Do you give a baby oppai?”
There are many peculiar expressions about delivery and child care. This makes it much harder to learn knowledge about delivery and a method of child care.

As you see, multiplying barriers which foreign women have to overcome make it more difficult for them to deliver in Japan.
I think lowering the barriers helps them deliver without anxiety in Japan.
When we support, it is important to do anything to the extent that individuals can do as well as material assistance and legislation.
Just communicating with them with great care, such as selecting expressions or ways of speaking in their position is enough to lower the barriers.
As is obvious, it’s important to do something deliberately.
I hope that we can create a society where all women can have safe delivery and child care without anxiety with the support or assistance of people in the community.
